Sweet 16

Hello everyone. I hope that you are having a great week. My week has been quite busy. Between all of the children’s school and extracurricular activities as well as working and taking care of home, I am shocked that I have time to sleep. I truly feel blessed everyday for the life I have been blessed with. I am not rich, and I do not hold a high position in an office somewhere, but I am loved, needed, and appreciated.

Today I am going to share with you all a project that I recently worked on for a young lady’s sweet sixteen birthday. This was one of my favorite projects because I designed this dress from the bottom up. The young lady’s mother called me and told me that she wanted something fun for her daughter to wear to her sweet sixteen birthday party, but could not find anything exciting in the stores of New York City. Of course when asked I jumped at the chance to make this dress. First after receiving her measurements I drafted a pattern for a sweetheart top with an embroidered sequin overlay and a tulle skirt made of 10 yards of silver tulle.

I worked on the dress for about a week. Sewing the fishing line into the hem to get the curled effect took a long time, but the outcome was so beautiful that it was worth every minute. After completing the dress, I mailed it off to my client and she stated that her daughter loved it so much that she did not want to take it off. Hearing that was a reminder of why I love what I do. The dress was a success, and according to my client, so was the party.

I must admit that I am still on cloud 9 about this project. I am looking forward to many more. Thank you all for reading, have a great day/week until next time.
