Hello everyone, I hope your week is going well. As for mine, it’s been great because my hand has been healing well, and my doctor has given me the okay to get back to sewing next week. I am so excited, because sewing is my happy time and my therapy; I am sure that sewers out there can relate. Today I am going to share with you all a “sewfit” that I made for my daughter. I love to sew for myself, but it brings me so much joy to be able to sew for my family, and my seven year old daughter is one of my biggest fans. She gets so excited when I make clothes for her, she says that she loves wearing one of a kind clothing and not looking like everyone at school. With her love for clothing, I feel so blessed that I know how to sew because her love for fashion would break the bank. For this project, I used McCalls MP442 for the top and M6949 for the leggings.
Fabric Used: I used a purple and gray jersey knit fabric for the top and a purple ponte knit fabric for the leggings. I found both fabrics at a wholesale fabric store in my city.
Modifications: I cut a size 6 and took about an inch and a half from the waist of the top and two inches from the waist of the pants, I also added one inch to the length of the pants. I wanted the length of the pants to be longer than needed so that it would still fit her this summer.
Were the instructions easy to follow: The instructions were very easy to follow, even for beginning sewers.
What do you like most about this pattern: As with many of the patterns that I buy, I love that you have so many clothing choices from both patterns that I used for this project. I have already made two other tops from MP442 for my daughter and used a thicker fabric to turn one of the tops into a sweater. I also love that I can extend the length of the tops to make dresses, which I plan on doing this spring and summer. I have also used M6949 to make more leggings and a cardigan.
She loves this outfit and has worn it over and over again, which means success for me. Until next time, thank you all for reading my blog, I hope that you enjoyed it. Have a wonderful and safe week.
